James Trimble brings over three decades of distinguished service in law enforcement, private security, and complex investigations to his role as Founding Partner of Turnstone Intelligence. His career began in 1988 when he graduated first in his Police Academy class and went on to serve in municipal law enforcement, responding to critical incidents and investigating major crimes including homicides, sexual assaults, robberies, and narcotics cases.

In 1994, James transitioned to a supervisory detective role at a major university police department with federal oversight, where he held a Top-Secret security clearance for 16 years. There, he conducted high-stakes criminal investigations—often involving fellow TS-cleared individuals—and maintained a 99% conviction rate on prosecuted cases. He also served on the executive protection team for Dr. Edward Teller and led background investigations for members of elite national security teams.

While working full-time as a detective, James earned his Bachelor of Science in Information Systems Management from the University of San Francisco, graduating with a perfect 4.0 GPA. He later applied his expertise in threat assessment and protective operations as a security manager for a major Southern California entertainment resort, guiding the organization through the heightened security landscape following 9/11.

As a licensed private investigator, James built a respected practice supporting attorneys with civil and criminal casework, conducting interviews, case reviews, and due diligence. He also partnered with LAPD’s gang unit to locate and recover high-risk fugitives in Los Angeles’ most challenging environments.

Most recently, James served as Director of Personal Security for the Chairman of the Board of a Fortune 500 company, ensuring his safety during public appearances and periods of civil unrest, including the high-tension summer riots in Los Angeles.

Now, as a founding member of Turnstone Intelligence, James channels his vast experience and commitment to truth into delivering investigative excellence in the realms of background checks, fraud detection, surveillance, and litigation support.
